EVALUATION OF SATURATED TRAFFIC FLOW PARAMETERS BY SIMULATION. THE "SUM-OP-IS '87" PROCEEDINGS, OCTOBER 1987, HERCEG NOVI

OCENA PARAMETARA ZASICENOG SAOBRACAJNOG TOKA SIMULACIJOM. ZBORNIK "SYM-OP-IS '87", HERCEG NOVI, OKTOBAR 1987

The first studies of saturated traffic flow characteristics were carried out in 1971 at the "London" junction in Belgrade. A few years later (in 1975 and 1976) the first extensive studies of saturated traffic flow were performed at 6 test junctions in the central city zone in Belgrade. Subsequently, further studies were carried out from 1977 to 1987 in Belgrade and two smaller towns. The studies were performed at 17 test junctions i.e. At four-leg junctions and two-way approaches 3.0-12 m wide where carriageway parking is prohibited and under favourable climatic conditions. Besides the already known facts, the analyses of the results show that drivers' behaviour has a significant influence on saturated traffic flow characteristics. The paper discusses the results.
