TELEMATICS, THE STATE OF THE ART AND WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE . TRANSPORTATION PLANNING COLLOQUIUM 1988, THE NETHERLANDS IN WHITE PAPERS. STRATEGY AND PRAGMATISM IN POLICY AND RESEARCH. THE HAGUE 24-25. 1988, VOLUME I. II, AND III
The potential applications of telematics are manifold. Hence the urgent need for a technical assessment in this field. The so-called Manto-project from Switzerland (which is described briefly) provides a useful source of information for summarizing the state-of-the-art. When trying to indicate what kind of future research is needed, a case is made for a "mixed scanning" approach, i.e. Analysis to include and (oscillate between) both the broad level (like manto) and the detailed level, notably field experiments with concrete telematics applications.
