A COMPARISON OF FOUR SLIP SURFACE SEARCH ROUTINES. PROCEEDINGS OF THE SIXTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON NUMERICAL METHODS IN GEOMECHANICS, 11-15 APRIL 1988, INNSBRUCK, AUSTRIA. VOLUMES 1 - 3
Nearly all computer programs for slope stability analysis include some routine which directs the search for the critical slip surface and the associated minimum factor of safety. The role and significance of this aspect of the program is examined by comparing the relative performance of four different slip surface search routines. A mechanism is proposed for improving the efficiency of any existing limit equilibrium-based slope stability program. (Author/TRRL)
