The development of an efficient software for solutions of three-dimensional geomechanical problems is discussed. The attention is focused on finite-element analysis based on linear tetrahedron elements. The use of mapping functions, the regular grid concept and a nodal description of the considered region as well as fast iterative solution procedures of large linear systems of equations are described in some detail.
