PERFORMANCE AND ANALYSIS OF ANCHORED SHEET PILE WALL IN SOFT CLAY. PROCEEDINGS OF THE SIXTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON NUMERICAL METHODS IN GEOMECHANICS, 11-15 APRIL 1988, INNSBRUCK, AUSTRIA. VOLUMES 1 - 3

This paper details the performance of anchored sheet pile wall supported by four rows of anchors, used for large-scale excavation (100 m wide x 200 m long x 10.4 m deep) in soft clay in Osaka. The behaviour of the structure and the adjacent ground was observed carefully throughout the excavation work. Numerical analysis was carried out for different excavation stages, using the finite element method. Measured and computed behaviours are compared and discussed. The mechanism of anchor load redistribution following anchor rupture was also investigated for the same wall. (TRRL)
