A SIMPLIFIED ANALYSIS OF PILE PENETRATION. PROCEEDINGS OF THE SIXTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON NUMERICAL METHODS IN GEOMECHANICS, 11-15 APRIL 1988, INNSBRUCK, AUSTRIA. VOLUMES 1 - 3
Some preliminary results are discussed of a study concerning the finite element analysis of pile penetration in quasi static conditions. The shear interaction between the pile and the surrounding soil is taken into account through axisymmetric interface elements. For the elasto-plastic soil both drained and undrained conditions are considered. Some step-by-step procedures for the numerical simulation of the penetration process are outlined and the advantages of one of them are shown. (Author/TRRL)
