THE SPLINE INDIRECT BOUNDARY ELEMENT METHOD AND ITS APPLICATION IN ANALYZING STRESS AND PRESSURE AROUND UNDERGROUND OPENING. PROCEEDINGS OF THE SIXTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON NUMERICAL METHODS IN GEOMECHANICS, 11-15 APRIL 1988, INNSBRUCK, AUSTRIA. VOLUMES 1 - 3

This paper describes a new calculation method named the spline indirect boundary element method. This is used to analyse and calculate the displacement, stress and rock pressure around underground openings. This method has the advantages of high precision, simplicity and is also easy to use. Its total matrix is a symmetrical and belt-like one. It can be used more conveniently than the boundary element method and the spline direct boundary element method. (TRRL)
