ELASTO-PLASTIC ANISTOTROPIC HARDENING MODEL FOR SAND IN A WIDE STRESS REGION. PROCEEDINGS OF THE SIXTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON NUMERICAL METHODS IN GEOMECHANICS, 11-15 APRIL 1988, INNSBRUCK, AUSTRIA. VOLUMES 1 - 3

The elasto-plastic constitutive model, taking account of anisotropy effects induced by the initial consolidation and the following shear processes, is established in order to describe the stress-strain behavior of an anisotropically consolidated sand in a wide stress region. The proposed model consists of a set of the yield function, plastic potential and hardening modulus which are expresssed based on the theoretical considerations and experimental evidences. The resultant equations are not only a simple form enough for use but also can give good qualitative predictions for the axisymmetric triaxial test results of sand. (Author/TRRL)
