CONSTITUTIVE EQUATION OF TERTIARY SEDIMENTARY MUDSTONE CONSIDERING STRAIN HARDENING AND STRAIN SOFTENING. PROCEEDINGS OF THE SIXTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON NUMERICAL METHODS IN GEOMECHANICS, 11-15 APRIL 1988, INNSBRUCK, AUSTRIA. VOLUMES 1 - 3
A series of laboratory mechanical tests were performed in order to investigate the strength properties (maximum strength and residual strength) and deformation properties (especially the dilatancy properties of the strain hardening and strain softening process) of mudstones. Based on the test results and the theory of elasto-plasticity, a constitutive equation that considers strain hardening and strain softening was derived. The elasto-plastic behaviors can be simulated with sufficient accuracy, using the constitutive equations proposed in this study. (Author/TRRL)
