WEGENBOUWMECHANICA-WEGCONSTRUCTIES MET ONGEBONDEN FUNDERINGSLAGEN

Pavement engineering mechanics is concerned with the structural behaviour of pavements. This paper mainly deals with sand and the unbound granular layer on top of it, if any. Materials applied in that layer may be lava, crushed concrete, crushed bricks, etc. A theoretical model for granular materials is derived which is supported by experiments mentioned in the literature and tests carried out at the technische universiteit, Delft. The model is non-linear elastic with a stiffness increasing with increasing pressure. The finite element package diana will be modified, so that pavements such as the one mentioned above can be analysed. (TRRL)
