AN ANALYSIS OF AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENTS IN RIYADH

Using statistical data from the Riyadh Traffic Department and other sources, a series of analyses of automobile accidents were performed. Also analyzed were a comprehensive questionnaire that considered various influential factors in traffic accidents, and a second sample of data based on Riyadh Traffic Department's accident reports for one week in 1983. The results are discussed by accident type, severity, human factors, vehicle factors, and road factors. Environmental factors, post-accident report and treatment, and safety management are also discussed. It is concluded that multidirectional approaches should be considered for the overall reduction of automobile accidents. Safety practices are recommended.
