Variable gasoline quality is the cause of poor vehicle performance and drivability, and unnecessary repairs. Gasoline vapor pressure is rising and is the cause of vapor lock, fuel foaming, hot-starting problems, unstable idling and so forth. Alcohol added to gasoline, and fall in detergency are the cause of further problems. The reasons for these are discussed, and ways to correct the problems are suggested.
