FIGHT OF THE FIFTIES
Tests on forty expensive low-profile radial tires are described. Four general conclusions are noted: it is necessary to accept some sacrifice of wet performance to reap the best possible dry-pavement performance and vice versa; European tire makers place a higher priority on wet performance than American and Japanese makers; Japanese brands have made impressive headway since the last tests; there is little correlation between price and overall performance. Specific tire by tire descriptions are presented.
