The demand for electrogalvanized (EG) steel among automakers in the U.S. will probably match or exceed the available supply until at least 1990, according to industry projections. This article reports on interviews with executives at GM, Ford, Chrysler, NUMMI (New United Motor Manufacturing, Incorporated), Nissan Motor Manufacturing, and Honda of America Manufacturing, in which it was discovered that each company plans a different approach to using EG for corrosion protection. Also, the automakers initially plan to use different coating weights.
