MUNICH'S GROUND TRANSPORTATION WILL MAKE FOR EASY PASSENGER MOVEMENT
The innovative design of Munich 2 airport will allow it to accommodate both road and rail passengers arriving at or departing from the airport in a fast and efficient manner. The first section of the S-Bahn which will also open at the same time as does the airport, will connect passengers to the integrated transport system with a 35 minute journey from the center directly into the heart of the airport's terminal. Decentralized and centralized passenger handling will accommodate both the 60 percent of passengers arriving via private automobile and the 40 percent of those using public transportation. Moving walkways will take S-Bahn passengers directly to their departure gates while those arriving via bus and needing to reach remote aircraft will be sheltered by specially designed boarding and landing stations, which will require them to simply climb from the bus into a reception area leading onto a stairway up to the aircraft door.
