CONVEYING CONCRETE FOR MELVIN PRICE LOCKS AND DAM
The replacement of the Melvin Price Locks Dam involved the combination of limited access and high concrete placing rate requirememt which made conveyors the most appropriate for placing the lock floor slabs. The length of the lock and the maximum width to the outside walls, as well as the overall mix of equipment on the project dictated the selection and design of the placing conveyor. The details of the conveying system and placement of the concrete are described, as well as the conveyor control and the rate of placement.
