FEDERAL RAILROAD ADMINISTRATOR GILBERT E. CARMICHAEL - AN INTERVIEW
Gilbert E. Carmichael was sworn in as Federal Railroad administrator on September 7, 1989. As administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration, Carmichael is responsible for the regulation of safety in the railroad industry, the development of new technology, and an increasing amount of research and development. This article presents an interview with Carmichael by Constructor magazine, in which he shares some of his thoughts on the future of the railroad industry in the U.S.
