ULTIMATE STRENGTH OF R.C. WALL PANELS IN TWO-WAY IN-PLANE ACTION
This paper presents experimental results, and describes the development of two empirical equations for predicting the ultimate loads of wall panels in 2-way action. The ultimate strength of wall panel in 2-way action is found to increase linearly with aspect ratio. The increase is about 26% for an increase in h/L from 0.67 to 2.0. The ultimate strength of the wall panel in 2-way action was found to reduce nonlinearly with an increase in thinness ratio or slenderness ratio. It was also found that the ultimate strength of the wall panel in 2-way action increases linearly with an increase in vertical steel.
