NEW ACI GUIDE FOR DESIGN OF CONCRETE MARINE STRUCTURES
The work of the ACI Committee 357, Subcommittee on Marine Structures is discussed. The article discusses the nature of marine structures, and the scope of the proposed new manual, the ACI Guide for Design of Concrete Marine Structures. The relationship between the principal components of the design process, classification levels, and the scope of the proposed manual are illustrated in a diagram. The need is noted for a state-of-the-art report as a necessary intermediate step prior to formulation of recommendations for the guide.
