This describtion of the Bahrain Causewqy focuses on the erection of the precast elements and the cast-in-place concreting. The concrete strength at 28 days and minimum cement content that were specified are given. Concrete was placed offshore by skip. Placing below water (using a tremie tube suspended from a crane) is described. Pile and pile caps are described, as well as cast-in-place pier shafts. To ensure durability of concrete in the splash zone, an epoxy coating was applied from the top of pile caps at 6.5 ft below mean sea level to 13 ft above MSL. The erection of hammerheads and other segments, gluing of segments, stressing, monitoring of stressing, and grouting of cable ducts are also described.
