DEVELOPING A CIVIL ENGINEER FOR THE 21ST CENTURY
The results are synthesized of major studies to date on this topic, and curriculum requirements are suggested. The paper also presents relevant issues affecting engineering education: student work experience; faculty development; and the implications of these issues for academic institutions, professional societies, and practitioners. Actions are proposed for achieving the desired curricular results.
