LINEAR HYPERBOLIC MODEL FOR ALLUVIAL CHANNELS

In this study, the linear fundamental solutions for the 1-dimensional sediment-water 2-phase motion applicable to alluvial channels of infinite length under initially uniform conditions have been obtained. The solutions include the general case of an arbitrary function of either sediment transport or channel bed specified as an upstream boundary condition. These solutions have been used to predict the sediment transport and aggradation depth due to constant upstream overloading. The hyperbolic model described in this paper shows a significant improvement over the parabolic model.
