AMTRAK AUTOMATES POWER CONTROLS, CTC
Detailed is how Amtrak is handling high speed train operations using a computer-aided dispatching system, Centralized Electrification & Traffic Control. This system displays all train traffic on a centralized video monitor but leaves control of traffic and power to dispatchers. It allows for centralized traffic control, reduces staff, decreases field equipment maintenance costs and increases efficiency and safety. Its major attribute, the increase of traffic control reliability, is attainable because no single point hardware failure in the system will disable control.
