TMAS AND SUBURBAN CONGESTION
The Transportation Management Association (TMA) consists of representatives from both the public and private sector which includes local transit authorities, local government, planners, major employers and others with related interests. As such, the author views TMAs as important instruments in preventing the congestion problem of metropolitan areas from growing to uncontrollable levels and something which should be established before congestion becomes a problem. A TMA currently in place in California is cited as a success story which could be an example for other areas.
