SHORT LINES ARE TAKING MANY ROUTES TO EDI LINKUP
As the July 1 deadline for "paperless" interchange approaches, the various EDI systems coming into operation for short lines as well as the benefits of such systems are noted. While EDI will be advantageous and worthwhile for some lines, it will be an inconvenient and costly undertaking for others. Also noted is the fact that no two short lines will have the same EDI system which may create problems in the future.
