STRUCTURAL PAVEMENT ANALYSIS BASED ON FWD, GEORADAR AND/OR GEOSONAR DATA

Since 1980 the Danish national road laboratory (nrl) has evaluated new methods for rehabilitation design of roads to improve the tool for the strengthening design which is used in the operation of a pavement management system (pms). This article illustrates the needs and the possibilities of combining the use of the falling weight deflectometer (fwd), with a georadar and/or an acoustic pulse echo system, geosonar, in order to determine the individual pavement layer thicknesses in a non-destructive way.
