SYMPOSIUM ON THE ROAD SAFETY EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH, ESPOO, FINLAND, 3RD JUNE 1986

Pri's chairmen decided in their may 1985 meeting that a symposium based on research results would be convened in conjunction with pri's major annual event, the annual general meeting and the road safety competition for school children; the theme chosen for this first symposium was the promotion of road safety concerning children and young people. The purpose of the symposium was to bring forth new ideas and fresh research results, and to provide a forum for road safety discussions in the interests of pri's. In 1986 it was finland's turn to organize the pri events. More than 100 delegates from 33 countries participated in the symposium. The papers presented in the symposium were as follows: researcher's experiences of the investigation of the young and children on traffic behaviour (mikkonen,v); family traffic safety (ellevset,la); road safety education for secondary school children in the u.k. (richardsson,j); traffic safety for youngsters (spolander,k); computerized traffic safety (audbry,r-m); children's traffic accidents (upanne,m); motorcycle accidents among youth (moe,d); the Spanish contribution to the traffic safety education and training of the young (sanchez,j).
