TRAINING MATERIALS FOR CDL
Provided is a number of programs compiled by the National School Transportation Association which can aid states in preparing their commercial vehicle drivers for the Commercial Drivers License (CDL) program. This program which was legislated by Congress, aims to curtail or eliminate many unsafe and improper practices such as drivers possessing multiple licenses, states allowing drivers who pass tests for driving small vehicles to receive licenses for larger vehicles, and to bring about a more uniform licensing procedure. April 1, 1992 is the current deadline for which states are to have resources and programs available for testing and licensing commercial drivers.
