IRON HIGHWAY DUE FOR TEST
The Iron Highway is a concept developed by New York Air Brake as a result of the Association of American Railroads' High Productivity Integral Train Project. This new concept may well be a piece of intermodal innovation to be reckoned with if Phase 1 plans warrant a Phase 2 prototype construction endeavor. The Iron Highway, which looks like a truck, but functions like a train, would have center loading and unloading, ac proppulsion, and fully automatic coupling. The new concept would have very positive economic impacts.
