SENSIBLE SALTING
The article notes that the most effective and economical way to contend with ice and snow is with the use of salt. Several characteristics of salt make it the ideal deicer. The few problems that are sometimes associated with its use are usually caused by overuse and can be corrected through proper management. Reasons for using salt as a deicer are described. Ways of avoiding excessive salt use are also described.
