THE METROS IN MEXICO CITY AND CAIRO: COMPARATIVE LESSONS DRAWN FROM THE TWO REALLIZATIONS IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

LES METROS DE MEXICO ET DU CAIRE: ENSEGNEMENTS COMPARES DE DEUX REALIZATIONS DANS LES PAYS EN DEVELOPPEMENT

In the present debate about metros in developing countries, it is interesting to compare two systems which differ in planning, technology, geographical context, urban context, and urban aspects. Both cities are similar in that they are the centers of great demographic and economic importance. In-depth studies were made by INRETS in collaboration with CETUR and local teams. Comparisons demonstrate common results and contrasting methods. Both systems show promise, in the long run, of developing into effective mass transit systems.
