DEFLECTION OF PRESTRESSED CONCRETE TWO-WAY FLOOR SYSTEMS

Deflections at the center of rectangular panels of 2-way floor systems are predicted from the curvatures of column and middle strips. A procedure is reviewed for calculation of the changes in stress and strain distributions in reinforced concrete section with or without prestressing. The method is based on compatibility and equilibrium and accounts for creep and shrinkage of concrete and relaxation of prestressed steel. It also accounts for cracking associated with partially prestressed or nonprestressed members. The slopes of the strain diagrams for the sections are equal to the curvatures that can be used to calculate deflections. A numerical example is included.
