THE JOY OF URBAN TRAFFIC ENGINEERING
The joys and satisfactions of being an urban traffic engineer are discussed. Succesfully tackling the challenge of urban traffic engineering brings its own satisfactions. The challenge has an unusually large human component and is most evident in the driver portion of the driver/vehicle/roadway traffic safety equation. Satisfaction comes from the fact that the engineer has the power to effect change. There is also satisfaction in seeing a long-term project progress from conception to completion. Another satisfaction comes in developing one's own professional artistry.
