While welding processes have not changed much over the years, automated equipment (robotics and electronic controls) is enabling companies to perform these functions with increased productivity and reliability. This article discusses some of the welding methods in use today, including arc welding, resistance welding, and specialty systems employing electron beam welding, inertia welding, and laser welding.
