PREDICTION OF TRAFFIC NOISE AT SIMPLE, SIGNALISED INTERSECTIONS. TECHNICAL MANUAL

This manual describes how traffic noise may be predicted at a simple, signalised intersection by means of a user friendly, interactive computer package. The package has been developed at arrb following several years fundamental research into the generation of traffic noise under interrupted flow conditions. Consequently, the manual also includes some background information concerning traffic noise at intersections. This, along with sample outputs from the prediction package, will assist users in understanding the problem of traffic noise at intersections and hopefully will lead to good prediction practices. The package outputs include noise/time histories and histograms, along with the conventional indices such as L10 and leq. Comprehensive instructions for using the package are given and these are complemented by several detailed examples. The isbn of the microfiche version is 0-86910-382-2. (Author/TRRL)
