MOBILITY AND THE SHAPE OF THE NEW TOKYO
Discussed is Tokyo's experience with population growth and the development of urban activity centers and satellite facilities around existing railroad stations. This experience shows how transportation facilities can be a catalyst for development as opposed to an after thought. Although railroad stations represented the beginning transportation facility in this movement in Tokyo, the increase in automobile ownership will make highways the major players in the future.
