DISPENSING WITH BARRIER CHECKS
Tyne and Wear Metro has changed its approach to curbing fraudulent travel and reducing vandalism: ticket checking at barriers has been abandoned in favour of checks by roving inspectors, and the removal of the barriers themselves is being tested. Results so far are promising.
