MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

Motor vehicle accidents involve a heavy cost to society in deaths, injuries, and property damage. The Federal Government and private industry both conduct research and development on methods for reducing this toll. Areas in which motor vehicle safety research and development is going forward today include computer applications, "friendly" interiors, small car safety, anti-skid braking, drunk driving warning systems, and truck and bus safety.
