FRONTAL CRASH RESPONSES: A FRONTAL CRASH TEST OF A 1982 VOKSWAGEN RABBIT CENTERED INTO A FIXED LOAD MEASURING BARRIER WITH A CLOSING VELOCITY OF 29.9 MPH. TEST REPORT
This test report documents one of a series of crash tests conducted to evaluate Part 572 and Hybrid III dummy responses in both the restrained and unrestrained environment, and to catalog vehicle structural responses from a variety of crash configurations. Testing was conducted with a 1982 Volkswagen Rabbit 5-door Hatchback at TRCO Crash Test Facility in Ohio. The Volkswagen Rabbit was towed into a load measuring barrier at 0 deg with a closing velocity of 29.9 mph. One Hybrid III dummy was located in the driver's designated seating position and one Hybrid III dummy was located in the right front seating position in the vehicle. The test date was July 17, 1985 and the ambient temperature was 74 deg F.
