DYNAMICS OF VEHICLE COLLISIONS. PROCEEDINGS OF THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR VEHICLE DESIGN: TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCES IN VEHICLE DESIGN
The book considers that the study of the dynamics of vehicle impact is important in the design of vehicles in order to minimise injuries to occupants as a result of collisions. The crushing process which occurs in vehicles involved in an impact is examined globally using a mathematical model to determine crushing, energy distribution, acceleration and displacements. The following chapters are presented: 1) motion during impact; 2) energy conversion and transfer; 3) the crushing process-1; 4) the crushing process-2; 5) two-body collisions; 6) restraint systems analysis; 7) restraint system operation; 8) movement on the road; and, 9) vehicle rotation.
