THE EAST CENTRAL TRANSIT SERVICE COORDINATION STUDY OF PUBLIC AND PRIVATE AGENCIES
The coordination of transportation services, whenever possible, creates economies of scale and operating efficiencies. In the six county area that ECICOG's (East Central Iowa Council of Governments) Paratransit Agencies serve, there are many agencies (both public and private) that provide transportation for their clients. ECICOG's Paratransit Agencies provide extensive service in the six county area. Thus, it is quite possible that there are redundant or overlapping services provided. This report will seek to demonstrate where service overlaps may exist. Based upon cost comparison figures that will be provided, recommendations will be made about where services should be coordinated. This report will provide information about each agency's transportation services such as their cost of service, how many vehicles they own (if any), the routes of their services, whether or not the agency has a contract with any of ECICOG's six Paratransit Agencies, and any other pertinent information. Information about the Paratransit Agencies' services will also be provided. Relevant information about service routes and costs will be provided.
