COLD-LAID LATEX-MODIFIED EMULSION PAVEMENT COURSES (RALUMAC). FINAL REPORT
The objectives of this report are to present and discuss the construction and performance of Ralumac on four project test locations. Ralumac provides a rapid method of rut repair and a good wearing surface. Compared to ID-2 a cost saving of 30 to 50 percent can be realized by using Ralumac for comparable areas of road surface. It has performed well on a variety of traffic conditions and has provided acceptable skid resistance. It is recommended that (a) the present PennDOT specifications be modified as suggested in the report, (b) a design chart be used as a guide and (c) Ralumac be approved for structurally sound pavements needing improvements to correct rutting or skid problems.
