STRESS STRAIN TIME CONSTITUTIVE MODEL ---INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RHEOLOGY AND SOIL MECHANICS, 12-16 SEPTEMBER 1988, COVENTRY, UK

In order to study the viscous behavior of the Mexico city clay, two series of stress controlled triaxial undrained tests, (using different stress rates) were carried out using a natural normally consolidated clay. According to these results, a viscous function has been considered and it has been added to a non-linear second order constitutive model. The parameters of the model can be found by using the results of two monotonous triaxial drained tests (for the elasto-plastic part) and two creep tests (for the viscous one). Knowing these parameters, the model is able to predict the behavior of the soil at any stress rate. A comparison between theoretical and experimental results is made and finally some conclusions are given.(a) for the covering abstract of this conference see IRRD 818664.
