NOVOPHALT MODIFIED HOT-MIXES IN FLEXIBLE ROAD CONSTRUCTION ---PRE CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS 3RD IRF MIDDLE EAST REGIONAL MEETING. TOWARDS BETTER ROAD PERFORMANCE, RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA, 13-18 FEBRUARY 1988. 6 VOLUMES.

More than 10 years' experience with polyolefine modified hydrocarbon binders produced in specially designed mobile mixing units at the hot mix plant have led to a sound and proven road construction technique. These polyolefine modified binders are known as novophalt bitumen, the hot-mixes produced from this pm bitumen as pm novophalt hot-mixes. The modification can be both adjusted to the requirements of the hot-mixes to withstand stresses deriving from traffic and climate conditions and is also responsive to the quality of the road bitumen grade and polyolefine available. In this way tailor made pm bitumen can be produced homogeneously immediately before it is used. This means that the production ensures a uniform quality of hot-mixes during the whole production-period and thus avoids any decrease in quality during transportation and storage due to ageing and segregation of the binder. Numerous construction sites in many countries with different climatic conditions are proof that this method is fully suited to any hot mix-plant and to conventional finishers and rollers.(a) for the covering abstract of the proceedings see IRRD 817883.
