TRUCKS: WHAT'S NEW BUMPER TO BUMPER
This article discusses some of the advances in design that are now available in new construction trucks. Among the new features are engine designs with electronic fuel injection, set-back front axles, and new clutches and driveline components. The set-back front axle designs are becoming an increasingly popular way to meet changing load regulations. They permit increased front axle weight transfer for more payload capacity, and allow a shorter wheelbase for better maneuverability. They also ride more comfortably because the front springs operate at their optimum load range. They are easier to service because of readily accessible engine compartments.
