RAILROAD TRAINING COMES OF AGE
The need for a formal program of personnel training is gaining acceptance and being implemented at a number of railroads. Although one can not pinpoint exact dollar cost savings for accidents or mishaps which did not occur, it is agreed that advance training in place of on-the-job or osmosis knowledge has its merits. The training programs offered by Burlington Northern, Norfolk Southern, Union Pacific, Southern Pacific, Chicago and North Western among others are detailed.
