LARGE TRUCKS AND HIGHWAY DESIGN: TWO STUDIES
Researchers and safety specialists have long understood that not every feature of our highways is designed with large trucks in mind. Two recent studies on this topic, "Intersection Sight Distance Requirements for Large Trucks" by John M. Mason, Jr., Kay Fitzpatrick, and Douglass W. Harwood and "Operational Considerations Relating to Long Trucks in Urban Areas" by Philip H. Decabooter and Clinton E. Solberg, are summarized in this article.
