RAY-PATH CURVATURE IN SHALLOW SEISMIC INVESTIGATIONS

This paper describes 4 theoretical models for correcting seismic test results for ray-path curvature. Two receiver locations are utilized to determine the model constants. For cross-hole tests, the constants are uniquue at each test depth. The corrections at any depth are independent of the conditions above or below the test elevation except in the zone through which the ray travels. The method is equally valid for velocities increasing or decreasing with depth. The study details and results are discussed.
