MAINTENANCE BUDGETS FIRM, COMPUTERS 'IN': SURVEY

A pavement maintenance budget survey was conducted by Roads & Bridges covering the topics: budgets, rehabilitation techniques, computer use, and the role of consulting engineers. It was found that computerization is spreading to maintenance work, with states leading in the use of both inventory and budget software programs. The survey results are presented in graphs which illustrate data on the following: money for research; average maintenance budgets; role of consulting engineers; research activities; asphalt maintenance techniques; concrete maintenance techniques; future software use; maintenance budget software; and inventory software.
