GIVING BUSES AN EVEN BRAKE
Brake performance is very important and the chances of brakes locking especially a school bus full of school children is a prospect that no one wants to encounter. Better brake systems for heavy duty vehicles, trucks and buses, are always being sought. Thanks to European technology, anti-lock braking systems have become more reliable. In view of this, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will be conducting tests over a two-year period on heavy duty trucks equipped with anti-lock brake systems. Although school buses are not included in these tests, independent tests on school buses will be carried out by the Blue Bird Body Company in hopes that this new system will meet FMVSS 121 requirements.
